Melissa Willet

Hello All!

I am a Canadian international student taking the Masters of Education Program. I have some teaching experience in public schools and many years working with students of all ages in different capacities. I have run programming for child care centers and worked as an Early Childhood Educator for some time.

I have an Honors Diploma in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Graduate Diploma of Education, and am now completing my Masters. I am registered with the QCT, and am hoping to work for TRACER over the next year while I study. My goal is to be the best teacher that I can be, and as well rounded as possible.

I always knew that I wanted to teach in a primary school setting, and came up through ECE so that I would have a good understanding of child development and differentiation in a less structured setting. I have a strong interest in Emergent Curriculum, and believe that if we can incorporate the students' interests with the curriculum we both see more success.

That is one of the main reasons for me choosing to take this course. Today's technology is increasing so rapidly and students' interests in this field and access to it are growing. I want to be able to use technology in the classroom in a way that increases their skills and learning in all areas. I also want to be able to help other educators who may be struggling to incorporate its use in their classrooms, by being able to suggest ideas or sites of interest.

I look forward to meeting all of you, and getting to know you over the coming weeks.

Best Regards,
Melissa
